Kids Dentistry

First Visit

The Goondiwindi Family Dental team make visiting the dentist a positive and fun experience for your children. It is important to bring kids from an early age (we recommend 2 years old) to meet the dentist and ensure healthy teeth.  Establishing a good dental attendance pattern is crucial for preventing dental issues in the future. Oral health is closely linked with general health and this sets good habits and nutrition from an early age.

Usually, your child’s first visit to the dentist will involve discussions about:

  • Growth and changes
  • Teething
  • Brushing techniques
  • Bite (how your children’s teeth come together)
  • Habits such as thumb sucking
  • The risk of decay and how to prevent it
  • Prevention of traumatic injury to your child’s mouth
  • Nutritional advice

Regular Check Ups

Always be positive about these visits, never use the dentist as a deterrent for bad behaviour such as not brushing teeth, and remember that the dental team is well-trained in dealing with babies and young children.

We love teaching kids about their teeth, you would be surprised how fast they learn! Each visit we focus on a new skill and review how they are going at their next visit.

Come along and meet our friendly team.  We look forward to looking after your child’s oral health now and in the future.
